ZOMBIES 1985 Update! LA Shoot, Gary Numan’s zombified babies and more..

Greetings all!

We just announced on I Speak Machine’s facebook fan page yesterday that we are in the process of re-shooting our Kickstarter film ZOMBIES 1985 here in LA. So far it’s been a blast – just as we were very fortunate to have a great cast & crew in the UK, we happened upon some stellar people to help us with the re-shoot in our home city. Our new DP is James Branscome whose work I came across from his awesome Beyond Fest trailers in LA – plus he knows his horror better than anyone I’ve ever met & has great taste…he’s also did some script editing which has been a great plus. Our leading actors are stellar too – Anna Ross and Lance Charnow are our two victims of I Speak Machine’s version of the zombie apocalypse. We had the fantastic makeup artist Amy Wiener in to zombify everyone to great effect, of course! Pretty cool!

And our zombie girls! Raven, Echo and Persia Numan were great sports and seemed to really enjoy the experience. Basically, I asked the lovely Gemma Numan if I Speak Machine could steal her 3 daughters for the day and turn them into zombies. Much to our great delight, they were up for having a day out of makeup and acting like horrific, rabid zombies! And they did an awesome job. Admittedly it was of course very cool having one of my musical heroes, Gary Numan, in the house for the shoot; but aside from that (!!), we all just had a great laugh on set. Fun and super disgusting as horror should be.

As far as the music, Benge & I have written the foundations of the score with only a few tweaks to go on it. It was wonderful to use such amazing machines – the meat of what you will hear came from his 1967 Moog Modular 3C, ARP 2500, Oberheim DMX and the utterly perfect Prophet VS. More to come very soon on that!

Tomorrow we shoot the final scenes in an ’80s appropriate BMW (immediately reminds me of the Breakfast Club)- more updates to come. x
