Tara Busch Releases “The Rocket Wife EP – A Benefit for the Bob Moog Foundation” PLUS Remix Contest!
“The Rocket Wife EP – A Benefit for the Bob Moog Foundation” has arrived!
We have carefully and lovingly created this very special 3 song EP to benefit something that is deeply dear to my heart, the Bob Moog Foundation. They have several wonderful causes that they are working toward, one of which resonates with me (pardon the pun) in particular – Dr. Bob’s Sound School. Aimed at bringing Moog instruments into schools across the United States to teach children science through synthesis, I feel this program will bring a much needed bleep and blast of beauty, logic and wonder into our lives, providing an “intersection of science and music”.
Which brings me back to the EP. You can download the 3 song EP here on Bob Moog Foundation’s Bandcamp site – name your price, and 100% of the profits will benefit the Foundation.
REMIX CONTEST:
I have longed to host a remix contest and now I have my chance! First, download your stems for the title track of the EP, “Rocket Wife” here. The stems can be purchased with a donation of $4.99 or more – again, 100% of all profits go to the Bob Moog Foundation.
Then, upload your masterpiece here – we’ve created a special Soundcloud group for the submissions. Please submit by midnight, October 15th!
So, just to be super clear –
The Soundcloud group where you submit your remix is here.
The Bob Moog Foundation will announce three winners on November 10, 2011. The winners will have their remix posted on the BMF Bandcamp site where it will be available for sale, with proceeds benefiting the Foundation. The grand prize winner will receive a framed limited-edition archival image of Bob Moog, a selection of BMF merchandise, and the opportunity to collaborate virtually with me on a track where I will supply vocals and synth soundscapes! Sounds like good fun, yes?
This EP is a part of the Bob Moog Foundation’s 5th anniversary, celebrating with a new logo & program direction, Limited Edition Poster and Archive Inspired Apparel. In the meantime…let me know how the EP grabs you and if there’s anything I can do to help with the stems, leave a comment or contact me via Facebook or Twitter. Hooray! Much more fun to come.

I grabbed the EP and the stems. I’m looking forward to sitting down and remixing Rocket Wife.
Hooray, William : ) I hope you enjoy the process – let me know how the stems work out for you.
To what extent can other sounds/instruments be added and have it still qualify as a “remix”?
@Keith – it’s totally open. Do what you think works. In my opinion there are fantastic remixes that bare little resemblance to the original but are a fantastic complement. Most notably for me are http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BroNPS0uuNM and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTR6ri16gn0
Have fun!
@Keith – Indeed what Maf said! When I remix, I add whatever I feel it needs, as if I’m producing the song initially, if that makes sense. Make it yours! : )
Indeed! I plan on adding various bits of my own in there. Will probably use my latest toy which is a Moog Etherwave. I have various other toys to add in there as well.
So far everything is going great with the stems. I’ve been busy chopping things up and preparing them inside of Reason. Lots of fun!
BTW, I threw a post about this on my website as well as some art I created to go along with my remix.

Hi Tara,
Great track–lots of interesting layers and a beautiful melody. I downloaded the stems and I’m excited to work on the remix, but I have a brief question. This may be due to a lack of experience with remixing, but unfortunately I’m having some difficulty syncing to the tempo. Would it be cheating to ask you directly what the tempo of the song is in its initial form? (If so, I totally understand.) Thank you very much for your time and for the opportunity to remix your excellent work!
Hey karl! – Thanks for downloading the stems and for the kind words! The tempo is 138. I always like to know the tempo as well : )
hi there
just purchased the stems and sorry to be picky but can we get wav/aiff files to remix with? otherwise will be converting mp3 to wav and probably back again..
Thanks!
Cool! Thanks!
Just downloaded your stems a few days ago and been playing around with them….finished a remix for someone else last night so I can now get my teeth into this proper by tonight
