Behind the world of I SPEAK MACHINE with Tara Busch & Maf Lewis

Rhythm Takes a Beating…

Bad pun. I woke up full bad puns today, that & in a foul mood. It’s almost 4pm now and… I feel my mood, resembling some sort of fondue made out of tar & quicksand, is lifting like a brave pelican ready dive for her dinner.

I shall spare you any personal undercurrents as to why my mood sucked today, but will indeed share with you how a simple bleep & bang can recalibrate even the moodiest of motherfuckers (that would be me). The much needed re-alignment started with this arriving today, an old “much loved” Rhythm Ace and a Boss Dr. Groove 202. Two super cheap machines that have been a filthy little joy so far:

Today, I also finally had the patience to mess with the near-legendary magical manipulator called Paustretch. It’s a free program available here (for Mac), that basically stretches audio beyond your wildest dreams….needless to say, I have experimented a bit with some of my new sounds from the Rhythm Ace (shoved through many a Moogerfooger – Ring Mod, Cluster Flux & the external loop on the Analog Delay through the Phaser). When Paulstretch was finished with it, It immediately made me think of Bill Hicks’ famous, ingenius “suck satan’s cock” rant. How nice, how sinister & perfect.

More soon…will soon reveal this evil beast I’m cooking up. I guess the moodiness was useful after all.
