Behind the world of I SPEAK MACHINE with Tara Busch & Maf Lewis

Reeling in the Machines & Ruby – Red Hearts…

It’s day 2 of the final mixing I Speak Machine, it was done in such a blur that I now am finding a few playful flaws to tweak – but nothing that I intend to spend much time on. “Pleeeeease”, I tell myself: “don’t let this be another 3 year album!”. Well, I’m wrong & it can’t happen; limitations are in this body of work’s DNA – if fact, my newly constructed baseline of the year has been my ambition to work faster, concentrated and efficiently. I can’t break my code now getting lost in the Forest of Tweakness. Too much to do………

Mixing. As always, my UAD Solo Laptop is an absolute godsend, a tiny stick of pure sorcery, as well as Izotope’s Nectar and Ozone 4 (I don;t have 5 yet! Oops). And of course you must have the right espresso (nope, I didn’t quit).

Well. It’s been an odd move back to LA, I Speak Machine being the main project in the palm of my hand this year. I haven’t really adjusted, my health has taken a bit of a hit, and for the first time, I feel my 38 years. I don’t know why, I’ve always had a young heart, ruby-red and forceful as a bird of prey (as I like to think?) and that general feeling seems to have been buried by changes that I haven’t yet absorbed, perhaps. Not only does “reeling in the machines” consist of making these sounds fit for consumption, but I’ve realized I need to apply the same “nutrition” to myself.

So – in all gratefulness for what my life consists of, Maf & I finish this body of work (it’s not what one would traditionally refer to as an “album”) for you to hopefully dig…and I’ll hope to excavate this ruby of a heart!

On the juicy side, Maf has some very delightful design concepts brewing for our GENA. Stay tuned……
