Greetings for 2014! I’m just on the verge of dismantling my studio for a long trip to the UK, and on the tail end of finishing my first project for 2014 (I will reveal more but it’s currently secret)…And of course to play a few shows of The Silence!
My favorite synth is still my Pro One, but one of my dream synths is indeed the SC Prophet 5. I actually own no hardware polysynths, and for the last project I worked on (still a secret) I desperately needed something that would swaddle the listener in over the top 80’s goodness…so I got my hot little hands on Arturia’s Prophet V! Excellent. I also must give honorable mention to their Oberheim & Jupiter – I wound up using them all in this particular project. If your “dream studio” doesn’t necessarily allow for the $3800.00 price tag that a healthy Prophet 5 commands, try this. It’s fantastic. I am a devout lover of all things Sequential as you may know (Pro One is STILL, after 10 years, my baby). The Korg MonoPoly also played an integral part in this as well, offering Tangerine Dream/ Michel Rubini-esque goodness. AND…I still wound up using loads of analog on it as well, mixing the Oberheim 2 Voice in as well as the Voyager and Pro One, primarily for the bass. Well, there’s a method to the madness of revealing the recipe before you’ve tasted the cake, but – I’m excited. What are your favorite soft synths?
Next I have my eye on what is being hailed as a revolutionary little beast that Arturia has birthed – The Minibrite and Microbrute – which would come in particularly handy on the road instead of what I usually use…(which I love, but not the most portable of beasts!)
Anyway – Off to pack it all up – keep your eyes here for news about UK shows and secret projects revealed! Yes.
In the meantime, speaking of Pro One, here’s a blast from the past:
See you soon!
