Science Fiction Pt 1 “The Silence” – Filming Begins!
Good morning…in such a sleepy state last night, I couldn’t type…but today sees a fuzzy glow of sun through the window, a chirp of a bird and a growl of an espresso machine. Here I am, a re solidified semi-human, ready to update you on some very exciting developments…..

Yesterday saw the beginning of our film, The Silence starring Gareth Milton as Wilson, directed by Maf, scored by me and written by Mark Williams. I’ll try to keep this post rather short and sweet as I’d like for Maf to really fill you in with the details as he’s the director – but from the score composer’s point of view, it was a juicy, wonderful experience to watch everything finally unfold into the real world and out of our imaginations.
The score has been in the making in tandem with the writing of the script and story, and I’ll be bringing my laptop on set to write the “skeletons” of the score as they shoot.

Here are a few photos from yesterday as we set up to film the lab scene at Howell’s School in Cardiff.

Many beautiful props were offered for our (careful) use – beautiful oscilloscopes, sound generators, vibration generators (I got very excited about the orange one above).
The shoot was great fun, lots of Monster Munch (you’ll soon understand) and coffee consumed and the actors, Matthew Bulgo (soon to be known as “Dr. Crunch”) and Gareth Milton were brilliant. And funny as hell in the darkest possible way (I actually banned myself from the room as I couldn’t keep from ‘corpsing’. Oh dear)…anyway, have a look:
Off to shoot more today – will update in a bit, plus more from Maf.
