Beautiful Iamamiwhoami – “y”.
The artist/artists that have indeed given me the most sonic pleasure this year bring us a lovely new film, ‘y’. So yes, the correspondng letters of the song titles spell ‘bounty’! Indeed…what’s next? If you have no idea what I’m referring to, pop over here for a catch up on the briliance that is Iamamiwhoami.
What do you think, do you have a favorite ‘letter’? Mine is ‘O’. And of course ‘B’!
Read more about this wonder that has turned mine and many others’ musical stratospheres on its head here & here. Download my official remix of Iamamowhoami’s ‘B’ here, and read about the making of the remix here.
Extra credit, have a listen.. over and out…

Hey Tara,
These videos have been fun and interesting to watch. Very creative artistic talented people. Only one thing has bothered me throughout. The vocals in all of the pieces seem buried in the mix. The effects make them seem muddy at many places. I get the urge to want to remix them as I listen. Am I alone in this observation and feeling? It may be on purpose that the vocals are mixed this way. I have done such a thing in my mixing, because the effect was more important to me and the art than making the vocals clearly audible. I guess in the case of what I’ve seen from your sharing of Iamamiwhoami, I would find it more pleasurable to hear hers vocals more clearly and raised up in the mix. I don’t think you would have to sacrifice the effects on the vocals to do this.
Really a lot of words for not such a big issue. Again, very talented artists, and it is obvious that a lot of hard work and effort has gone into some amazing and surreal videos and songs.
I love almost all of it…
Cheers,
;^D
Yes, those incomprehensible processed vocals have been one of my nitpicks too, not so much because I can’t understand them as because, like most things in the whole overall mix for most of her songs, they’re so bright and metallic. The processing seems to take the warmth out of the vocals and make them like the rest of the mix, which is pretty bright across all instrument tracks already. Another reluctant nitpick is that pretty much everything after (but not including) "U" has seemed to be more video than song. "N" actually had very little going on in it on the audio side through most of the piece. "O" was the pinnacle…that was the one that kept me coming back for more more more…always hoping and dreaming of another song like "O". All of this really is just nitpicking, which I’m very prone to doing with music, ironically only when the music is good enough to be worth a critique. Compared to what Viacom, Sony, and others would otherwise have us listening to, this is just pure heaven, all of it. I’m hoping for an actual CD/DVD album soon that I can buy. I’ve already told some friends about this artist.
hey tara, i like all letters! so as far as I’m concerned, iamamiwhoami should make songs and videos for each letter of the alphabet!
btw, it seems like the song Y is based on the second teaser song.
