In a Cuddle With Ableton 8 and a New Iamamiwhoami….

Hello dear ones, just a small pop of the head out of the window to stay healthy & say hello…

First off, I had to break blog hiatus to show the latest amazing Iamamiwhoami treat. As always, I cannot express enough how much I adore this artist(s??)…lovingly titled “t”. Buy “t” here on iTunes.

As you may know, I had the wonderous pleasure of creating an official remix for Iamamiwhoami’s “b”. You can download it here on iTunes or listen here on my Soundcloud page (also download my official Bat for Lashes and Polly Scattergood remixes here)

Nice news….I yesterday received in the mail  my copy of Ableton Live 8! Very excited to weave a new world with it; but I have to learn it first! Extra excited to fuse the world of Moog in there as well….MP 201 and Voyager are first on my list……

Who else had great Ableton tips and “recipes” to share? There’s a head spinning variety out there, as vast as the possibilities that Ableton seems to offer – please feel free to share. I can’t wait to incorperate it with visuals and the new music I’m making. I miss playng shows so much, and this may be the key.

Back to it…bring on the Ableton love!!

  2. Congratulations on your leap into Ableton Live! I’ve found that it’s an excellent tool for getting ideas down and changing things up quickly. It takes a bit to wrap your head around Session Mode vs. Arrange Mode, but once you do you’ll see that there are endless possibilities. Take the time to go through the built in tutorials, as they cover all of the basic stuff and and help you to get around and really dig in. Consider getting a button controller. I’ve got an APC-40 (in the studio – nice for for tweaking) and a Launchpad (nice for portable jamming).

  3. Hi Jose! Thanks for the links, Ive been spending the day going through the built in lessons…though I’m cozy with Logic 9, this is quite a different setup to wrap my head around. I cant wait to ‘play’ it like a proper instrument, you know?

  5. Tara, grab’ the free package ableton published a few days ago including several drafts & sketches of music created by MINUS-artists like Madga & Co, it’s worth it since you will learn many tipps and hints of ‘how to …’ with the pack as soon as you discovered the basics of live8! best,
