We Love You Delia Derbyshire !

“Now without the constraints of doing ‘applied music’, my mind can fly free and pick-up where I left off.”

- Delia Derbyshire ( May 5, 1937 – July 3rd, 2001 )

As we bake more delicious films from Aeriel Studios, I’d like to send a sweet sonic kiss out to the brilliant Delia Derbyshire, who passed away on this day in 2001. Words can’t describe her brilliance.

Read this gorgeous, moving interview with her and Sonic Boom (A.K.A. Pete Kember of E.A.R., Spectrum & Spacemen 3) here on her websiteastounding.

For those of you new to the world of Delia, pop over here, here and here to read more!
There’s some interesting bits in there about her work with the wonderful Radiophonic Workshop as well!

Seen previously on Matrixsynth, this classic footage floors me every time.
