Greetings on this chilled Monday in LA – I wish it would stay this frosty! I love the cold, it makes me far more creative (which I need in mega-doses at the moment!)
We wandered through the famed Pasadena Rose Bowl Flea market yesterday, and I picked up a rather fabulous nurse’s cape to wear in an upcoming photo shoot… I then proceeded to lust after a few gorgeous pieces of vintage furniture, one containing a turntable and radio. Lustful until the retailer said “Well, the turntable doesn’t work. Maybe you can fix the belt?”. Hmm. At least he assumed I was the type that enjoyed fixing “belts” on 45 year old turntables.
Back to work today, speaking of cold snaps sparking creativity! My I Speak Machine project/ alias awaits, I’ve imposed a January limitation on myself to finish the music. Benge (you know him) has come over from London for a while to chill out here, and also acquired a gorgeous analogue Yamaha desk ( I don’t recall which model) on which we may bang out some mixing for the project – & it will be great to have his perspective. I have many juicy, bizarre ideas for I Speak Machine that I will share with you very soon. By the way, I found my copy of I, Robot that inspired Gena’s story…isn’t it a gorgeous cover?
PS – Not necessarily unrelated, but I’ve decided to possibly add a food/fitness segment to this site, as it is something that is a tremendous part of my life, and, I must admit I do enjoy documenting. I shall call it “Analog Eatery”, maybe. I’m not sure yet If it’ll be an additional page on here or a separate Tumblr blog.
