Behind the world of I SPEAK MACHINE with Tara Busch & Maf Lewis

Holly Herndon! Mind melt of the weekend.

I swear, I’ve do become wildly distracted at times, and have a very short while to finish 2 looming projects….but I must share….

I just discovered the sonic alchemist, the waveform warrior, masterful laptop musician/ wizard that is Holly Herndon. A beautiful juxtaposition of the robotic and the organic, I am blown away by her sensibilities that bring such humanity & blood out into the medium of electronic music – a world that is typically (& very incorrectly) associated with being “cold”. I think that she accesses something very sensual & engaging with her technology and imagination. Read about her here – she reminds me a lot of Ruth White and Suzanne Ciani; all equipped with a very impressive, boundary-blowing academic background, beautifully woven and cross pollinated with beautiful, wildly unique, & courageous sounds. Love!

She has just released an absolutely “shattering” album called Movement, I highly recommend… And she’s here on Twitter.
